I want my Damn Vioxx!!

I just finished reading an article that Merck pharmaceuticals had taken Vioxx off the worldwide market. Evidently the drug has shown increased risk of heart attack and stroke. Of course it does, it works. It was the only drug my doctor gave me that cleared up the pain in my sciatic nerve. I took the samples he gave me for 2 weeks, my hip got better, then the pain came back and he wrote a script for Vioxx. My HMO turned down the request. They sent a questionnaire to my doc to see if I qualified to take it and they declined the request, because I don't have arthritis. There are some times when I feel the risk would be worth it to get rid of this pain I live with every day of my life.

I go for my second attempt at an MRI on October 6th. My appointment is at 315pm, I plan to take all the xanax I can starting at around noon. Hopefully by my appt. time, I will be so sedated and high that nothing will bother me. I still don't understand why they can't let me into the MRI feet first.

No Leadership

The great Christian woman that is my direct superior is on vacation this week. She has gone to Florida, where I believe she has scared all hurricanes away. Her boss, which is my boss this week, has just left to sign the closing papers on her new house. What is a man to do? I have no leadership here at UT, at least until 3pm.

I've had an offer to go to lunch and eat a little Indian food. Damn good stuff that Indian food. Just 3 or 4 months ago, I had never tried it and now I can't get enough. I scrape together $6.50 and I am set. 6 bucks for the buffet and the 50 cent tip of course. The trick, that my friend Ashby taught me, is to get water to drink, as for now it is still free and saves you at least a dollar fifty on your bill. My friend though has also suggested Chinese. I don't think I can do it, I've got to have the Indian stuff, I've got to have my fix.

You can see I talk alot about food, well I am a big fat pig. I love to eat. Sometimes I think that is all I got. Eating is my hobby, my addiction, my reason to live. I wonder what's for supper tonite.............

Listening

I'm just sitting here listening to some old Living Colour right now. Trying to keep my mind off being too depressed. I think Living Colour is still the only hard rock all black band. They got very popular for a few years. I searched for their website and found that they still play the occasional concert. It's one of those bands that I really liked a decade or so ago and forgot all about them. Damn I am depressed......

Trevor

Just taking a little time to show my main man,Trevor how to put a post on blogger. Not much going on here, besides my wife NOT getting the job at ACNTV. They called yesterday afternoon and told her that now they could not offer her a job. That really sucks especially after telling her on Tuesday that she had the job and she could start on Monday. But what are you gonna do?? Well Trevor's friend Jacob just came by and now T has gone to his house. Angi came and got me off the computer to go see who it was. I guess that was man's work.

Yahoo

Just went over and checked my Yahoo email account. I get so much crap in that one. Who the hell is Doug Knight? I don't ever open his emails but he sure does send me alot. I get alot of emails from Todd Sloane at Publisher's Clearing House. I keep registering, surely I will win something, I mean somebody has to. Also got one from Hillary Clinton, wanting me to make sure and get the word out about Kerry. I get all kinds of emails about Kerry and I don't think I ever signed up for Kerry, only Edwards when he was running for president. Well I guess those are OK, I just delete them anyway, I'm going to vote for Kerry, and I don't have any money to contribute, so why even look at the emails? I also had to delete 315 emails from my spam or junk email folder. That's just for one day. The email server here at UT filters emails out alot better. I hardly ever get any spam, but of course when I go to any website that ask for a email address, if I use one, I don't put my UT account. Why you ask do I even bother to put any email address? Well for one, somebody has to win that publishers clearing house or those other contests, don't they?

Unlock

Well I just had to go and unlock someone's network connection. I find it so hard to understand how people can forget their password from one day to the next, but they do it. The game is on tonite on ESPN at 7, so I'll either watch an episode of Law & Order and then the game or maybe CSI on Spike TV. I keep forgetting that CSI is on every night at 7 and 8. One day I'll remember and I'll just sit there and flip back and forth and watch both CSI and L&O.

I'd really like to see the Sox win the game tonite and actually sweep the Yankees except for one thing,-- I don't like Pedro Martinez. I don't think he is as good as he thinks he is. When he pushed Don Zimmer last year, that really sucked. I mean, Don Zimmer is 145 years old. But looking back on it Zimmer cried like a baby when HE apologized for the altercation. Pedro just punked out like he has his whole career. I would like to see him hit somebody and they go out there and beat the crap out of him. That would be the perfect ending for my day.

Nothing

Just read an article about Seinfeld coming out on DVD this November, I think. So I'll try and write about nothing. Here is the way my day went:

Woke up at 550 am, almost an hour before the alarm was to go off, pulled my sore aching body out of bed and went to the bathroom. 10 minutes later it was off to the shower and soaking in the hot water for almost 20 minutes. Found a decent UT t-shirt to wear for casual Friday, got dressed. Brushed my teeth, put on deodorant, put on a splash of Aqua Velva and I was good to go. Had to let the damn dog outside. Came back in and washed my hands off (I couldn't go to work with dog smell on my hands),sit back and watched Sportscenter until about 710 am. Got in the ole 95 Nissan Quest and went over to Mom and Dads to get the newspaper. Drove into work a different route from my everyday journey and arrived in the parking lot at around 740 am. Saw a financial aid counselor in the parking lot and swerved at her to play a bit. Got up to the office, poured myself a cup of coffee(I have a timer on my coffee pot, so I get my coffee as soon as I come in). Logged onto the pc, checked out cnn.com, espn.com, and of course, fark.com.

My next door neighbor arrived about 755, which is about 20 minutes early for her. Everyone is decked out in their best Big Orange outfits today. It's homecoming and the parade starts at 3pm and will be over about 310pm. Not much of a parade really. Had to see the boss around 815 and she was acceptable. Sent an email to my sister, Tracy, who happens to work her now and told her good morning. She emailed back and wanted to know what was for lunch. Told her that we had tailgate snacks in this office and down in financial aid was the monthly birthday celebration. This month it was sandwiches and all the fixins. Went down to fin. aid and moved a PC for the woman I jokingly ran over earlier. She wanted to move her monitor to her main desk and rearrange some of her furniture. One good thing in my job is I don't have to move any furniture, only the PC and PC stuff. So after I got the stuff out of the way, I waited about 20 minutes for 3 people to rearrange her office. Put the PC back and left fin. aid with a plan to come back around noon for the free food.

Went to the breakroom this morning and snacked on alot of goodies. I had brownies made with York peppermint patties in the middle, mini quiches, and some fruit pizza. Sat around the rest of the morning and surfed the internet. Still hoping to be on the beta testing of that new internet 2.0, but that's for another post. 1145 rolls around and the boss says she is gone, I tell her to be careful and to have a good time, trying to sound as sincere as possible. Get an email to come on down to financial aid because the food is ready. Go down and make a pastrami and roast beef sandwich with tomatoes and mayo. Get a big scoop of homemade pimento cheese and some kind of pasta salad and some cheetos (puffed). Grab a sugar cookie with icing and a macadamia white chocolate cookie and I am off. Have to go by the coke machine and get a can of diet coke which will come in handy for a spit can later. Wolf down the food and then Michael, my work-study student shows up, I tell him about the food and back to financial aid we go. I'm too stuffed to get anything else. I tell Michael I will meet him back up in the office, but for right now I have to run out to the van. I go to the van and it is hot, get some tobacco and get back to the office. Michael leaves at 1 and so I go up to see how my sister is doing upstairs. She has her head turned, so she can't see me when I come up, and she is one the phone. I poke her in the side and she drops the phone. She picks it up and apologizes to the person on the other end. Talk to her for a few minutes, she can't believe this one guy we work with just turned 30. She had thought he was maybe early 50's. She wouldn't believe me so she had to go ask some other people in the office. Yes that guy really is 30. Had to leave to go out on a call, the PC was fine the operator well that's something different all together. No she is a very sweet and nice woman, I will not reveal her name, no matter if no one reads this. She is actually very attractive, well for her age. Now I hear the parade is not going to start until 4, it will be pure hell trying to get off of this campus at 5. I'll be a little late getting home to eat my frozen pizza and watch MASH and Law and Order. Just one episode of L&O tonite, I think I'll head on over to tvguide.com and see what else I can find to watch tonite. Nevermind, I just remembered that the Yankees and Red Sox play on ESPN at 7, I think or it could be 8. I better go check.

Well that's enough for my nothing post, do you think it would make a good episode of Seinfeld?

Mark Cuban 2

Well I am still waiting for Mark Cuban to respond to my email. You would think a billionaire would have plenty of time for a guy like me. He has this big ABC show on now so I guess his plate is pretty full right now.

Do you think when you are a professional athlete that you are required to take classes in cliches? They use the same ones every game and we as fans listen to the same ones every game. Maybe that is just what we want to hear.

I am in the process of trying to get my hands on some of Prez Bush's national guard records. I figure the way they keep popping up that there are some more out there and I could sell them to the highest bidder.

I'm so damn glad that it is Friday, the boss has left for the day and will not return until October 4th. She is going to Florida, which has a hurricane headed straight towards it right now. I told someone in the admissions office about that and they said the hurricane would get scared when it saw her and would probably turn out to sea.

When I'm not at the PC or can't get to one, it seems I have all these ideas that I would like to write about, but right now, Nothing!

I'll have to think about it and get back to ya.

Time.....

I've got plenty of time right now so I might as well write a little more. The big bad boss lady is gone right now and I don't know yet if she will be back today. She will only be here a half day on Friday and will be on vacation all next week. It will be a week of celebrating and not worrying about her evil eye upon me.

Greg Maddux at this very minute is the pitcher of record in the Cubs game. This will be his 17th straight season of at least 15 wins. I really like Greg Maddux, I guess having the TBS superstation, you get used to watching the Braves all the time. Maddux and especially Tom Glavine used to drive me crazy when I kept a close eye on the Braves. It seemed like Glavine would give up at least 1 run in the first inning of every game that he ever pitched for the Braves. There was always the talk of what a great pitcher he was, but I never got it. I think since he left the Braves, we are seeing the real Tom Glavine. He has had back to back 9-14 seasons, or there abouts.

I sent another email to Mark Cuban and told him about watching the Benefactor on Monday night. I told him to get rid of the sandals he was wearing. I told him in the comfort of his own home, he needed to go barefoot. I said he was a man not a woman and that I could respect him more without the sandals.

Had to leave for a while, the boss showed up and at the same time 2 computers down in the registrar's office went down. Greg Maddux now has his 15th win and the Cubs are still rolling along. I would like to see the Cubs win the wild card and the Giants win the NL west. I have never been a Dodger fan, it goes all the way back to the 70's when I was a kid and I loved the New York Yankees. Gotta go now, but I'll be back.

INXS

It was such a tragedy that Michael Hutchence of INXS died so early. I was really a big fan of their music, now I hear they are going to have a reality show to find a new lead singer. Damn, that is very lame, but I am sure it will be a big hit in Aus. and the UK. I had also heard that at one time he was dating Kylie Minogue. Now that is one fine looking woman.

New Job

Angi had an interview at ACNTV this morning and she got the job. It's a lot less money than what she was making, but she had to find something. I sent an email to an old friend that I used to work with down there and next thing you know she is hired. She said it happened pretty fast, it was like she had the job as soon as she showed up for the interview. We were walking around and telling some people here at UT and this one woman told us that she worked there the summer before she came to work here and she went on and on about how it was a great place to work if you had no education. It's a wonder my wife didn't go off on her, she has went off on people for less.

I always look back at my time at ACN and still think it was the best and easiest job I ever had. If I would have been made a team leader(supervisor), I would still be there to this day and that I can guarantee you. I am the kind of person who gets somewhere and once they get comfortable they stay there, maybe forever. I am comfortable in my job here at UT, but my boss is something else. She considers herself a good Christian woman, well I know for a fact that my mother is a good Christian woman and my boss is not like my mother. Treating people like they are little kids and idiots is no way to treat people. I can't understand why no one has put her in her place around here. I know of many women that she has made cry, just by her words. Words of constructive criticism is what she says she is saying to me, but like I told her on Friday, it isn't nothing but criticism, and it's not constructive.

What to write now.....

I need to keep posting, it makes me look very busy sitting at my desk and typing away. Getting back to the Benefactor(and yes I know how to link that, I am just too lazy to do it), I still have some great ideas for reality shows. The Benefactor is supposed to be different from other, but I don't really see it. Just a bunch of the beautiful people trying to stab each other in the back for some cash. I guess you can't really call a million dollars just cash. How about a lot of cash?

Rain on the Scarecrow is on launchcast now, I'm a big fan of old Mellencamp. Like the show on VH-1, I love the 80's. That was my time, if I could go back, I would go to fall of 81 and relive my senior year at Powell Valley High again. So many things that I would do differently. For one, I wouldn't stay with my one true love. At least I thought it was when I was 17. Oh the girls that I would run around with. I think maybe just the ones with the bad reputations.

How about a little Roxy Music, More Than This. Boy that Bryan Ferry is one smooth sounding mofo. Sorry about using that word or form of a word, but what would be a better word for him. The mofo fits perfectly. In 81 and 82, I would also pay a little more attention in class. I went through 12 years of school never having to open a book. It all just came easy to me, until I got to college. Good ole Concord College, if I knew then what I know now, oh the joy and fun my life would be. You think that it would ever happen, me going back in time to 1981? It happens all the time in the movies and I figure if I wish it enough maybe the Lord will take pity on me and let me try it again. I would have to have some assurances though. My boys, would have to still end up being my boys in the year 2004. They are the only reason that I don't think I could go back in time, well that and the whole space time continuum.

Football

How could I pick the Titans, Giants, and Ravens at the beginning of the year? I live in Knoxville, TN, I am supposed to be a Colts fan. I was a Colts fan on Sunday when they beat the Titans. It was one of those games where I didn't care who won. The late game was another one of those, I didn't care if it was the Cowboys or Browns who won. Is it too late to jump on some bandwagons? I want on the Bengals, Lions, and I guess the Falcons. Since we live in K-town, the local affiliate will drive the Falcons down our throat just like they did the Titans when they moved to TN.

Trevors fave won on Sunday, is it any surprise that a 12-year old boys favorite team is the Atlanta Falcons? Kids love Michael Vick, well grown-ups do to for that matter. His favorite used to be the Rams until they got rid of Kurt Warner, that did in the Rams for me too. Bulger is a good QB, good ole West Virginia guy. I still remember wearing my WV hat around town when the Mountaineers played the Irish for the national championship back in the late 80's. Notre Dame won of course. I probably had money on the Mountaineers, NEVER bet on YOUR team. I have definitely learned that lesson from the Vols.

Big Damn Baked Potato

I just had one damn, big baked potato for lunch. Ang brought it to me from Buddy's, it was loaded with pork bbq and cheese. It was very good, but I had already ordered Japanese from Hibachi Factory. I put the Hibachi beef in the microfridge for tomorrow and ate the potato like the good hubby I am. I'm looking forward to lunch tomorrow, maybe I should eat it before I go home. I doubt Ang will have anything good for supper.

I tried to watch the Benefactor last night like Mark asked me to, but I couldn't. I flipped back and forth between it and Law and Order and ESPN. About 830, Zack asked if I wanted to go lay down and watch some M*A*S*H, what could I say, this was my 10 year old son asking me to watch DVD's with him. Trevor came into the bedroom too, while eating a bowl of Sugar Puffs, and we proceeded to watch 3 episodes from season 6. Zack didn't make it to the last episode, he fell asleep before the end of the second one. He ended up just sleeping with me, I think that was his plan all along.

President Bush

I wonder if CBS would like to interview me and ask me about President Bush's National Guard service? I can have all the memos that they want of course, for a price.

I admit it, I have a John Kerry sticker on the back window of my van, but my first choice was a sticker of John Edwards. At least he can be Vice President. I still sort of hope that Bush (the evil one) gets re-elected, then we can put a Clinton back into the White House in 2008.

Commercials

My kids get on me all the time because I click channels when a commercial come on. Well one commercial got in my head. I had to have a Hardees thickburger. By the way, to Hardees, thickburger is one word. I just finished my thickburger and now I will not have to have another for at least 3 or 4 months. It was very good, but too messy and their fries really suck. No other word can describe their fries.

Long Time

I haven't written anything for a month and a half. Well first of all, I had my back to go out and was out of work for a week. My wife is still out of work and her unemployment has run out. My boss jumped on my pretty severely, this past Thursday and Friday. I got an email from Mark Cuban. He wants me to watch the benefactor tonite. I will have to miss Law and Order, but for him I guess I can give him an hour. That's enough for now, the boss is lurking.
